Creating content that prompts one-way in-coming linksfrom other webmasters is not only complimentary but also a “vote” of confidence that Google cannot ignore.
Linkbaiting has gotten a bad rap lately (because of the lengths some will go to in order to elicit back links.) It’s always best to linkbait by just writing the best, most compelling content you can.
The “ethics” of linkbaiting aside, I would like to offer what I feel are the five best techniques for getting other webmasters to link to your content.
Here are my five best linkbaiting techniques (all white-hat too!):
Create the best content-Cover your topic better than anyone else has! Become the ultimate resource for information on your topic. Use video, images, and audio in your posts. Make your content useful, provocative, attention grabbing, provide real value to your readers, make them want to link to your content!
Let them hear it from you first-Be the first to break the “big” story. Stay on the cutting edge. Subscribe to magazines, trade journals, or any source of up-to-the-minute happenings in your niche. Try to be the one who gives them “the scoop”.
Press releases have been a greatway to bring traffic to a business, and of course advertise. It doesn’t matter whether they want to tell the public about a new product or just talk about the company-press releases have always been the way to do it. Over the years though, press releases have changed quite a bit, and the way they’re used has changed too.
In the past, a press release was used solely as a way to promote a product, company, service or event through the media. Perhaps you released a brand new product with some fantastic features that customers have been looking for. Your company writes up a press release, sends it out to all of the major news providers in your area and hopes that it sparks their interest.
One of the ways that a press release could get out, is when a journalist catches wind of it and believes it is good story material. They will write an article on it or feature it in their news program. Your company will suddenly get free advertisement, and the media got a new story. This was a win win situation for everyone involved.
Today with the Internet though press releases have changed. Yes, there are still traditional press releases being used everyday in standard media outlets. However, there is also a new class of press releases, the online press release. An online press release is made specifically to be distributed to online press release websites, as opposed to traditional outlets. How do these really work and can they be effective tools for driving high quality traffic to your business?
There are actually several different benefits to distributing an online press release. The first of which is that you are going to be including links back to your business. The major press release sites are all high ranking, meaning that the links that you include on these sites will help boost your PageRank and search engine standing. The result is more traffic driven to your website from searches as your site enjoys an increased reputation.
Another benefit to the online press release is the power of search engine optimization. When you create an online press release you get a chance to include links back to your website, as mentioned. However you also get to control the anchor text of those links, and you also get to fill the press release with the keywords and phrases of your choosing. By doing this, you can get the press release highly found in the search engines.
